Where is the 2nd from the top photo taken (the one of Joe on the mountain/bald top)....is that Mt. Rodgers....? That looks like a really cool strech....does the AT trail follow the ridgetop in the background?
That was on a bald after Roan Mountain. The elevation was about 5,500 feet if I remember correctly. The trail did follow the ridge top for a while, and then it dropped. It was an extremely windy day. I was very happy to be off the ridge.
