What's with all those coffee tables, or is that where people sleep?
Those tables are where thru hikers sleep after the lodge paying guests go to sleep. The lodges are like hotels. They cost about $90 on weekdays, and $100 on weekends.
We are prohibited from camping near a lodge so we have to stay at lodges. The only way most of us can afford to stay at a lodge is by doing work for stay. The lodge workers seem to think they are doing us a favor by letting us stay at their lodge. I found the lodges to be a real hinderance to hiking the Whites.
